Are you just wanting to remove branches? You certainly won't need to prune to improve flowering partly as your tree obviously flowers anyway and also they tend to produce flowers on the tips of their shoots.

If you are wanting to remove large branches, unless they are obvious and easy to see, I would remove in winter when you can see the tree's structure better.
