I am hoping to grow some Hibisus for hedging use and would like some advice on how to grow. Can i grow from seed, or do i have to take cuttings. I live in Manchester. What type should i grow, what siz will they grow to.

Thanks
Paul.

Sorry, Guest, but Hibiscus is not a suitable subject for hedging, I'm afraid. Many are half hardy, and even the hardiest requires a sunny, sheltered spot, wants to develop into a tree, and will not appreciate being cut regularly.

Sadly, regular shearing takes off all the flower buds, and the hardy species (mainly H. syriacus) look extraordinarily dead in the winter.

How do I say thanks?
