i have 2 conifer trees one has went completely brown and appears to be dead the other has went brown but has a couple of green branches which seem to be growing. Does this sound like a rescuable situation or will i need to remove trees and plant something else.

Conifers wont regenerate if they've gone brown. You'll need to cut down, remove or treat stump and start gain. Sorry Gary and welcome to GoY
