These are some possible reasons:- bees have to be able to pollinate the flowers if they can enter your conservatory. The pollen may be weak
if the tree is not getting enough potash from your feeding. The tree may be still in its juvenile stage to produce fruit at all.

Might also be a humidity issue - you could try standing the container on a tray of regularly damped down gravel so that the atmosphere around the plant is humidified.

Hi there
Thank you for your quick responses
We get regular visits from bees which is good.
i have sprayed the leaves this evening - does the pot have to stand on the gravel or can i just put gravel round the tray at the bottom.

How do i know if i have been watering my tree properly - its looks moist on top but does that mean that the water is going through to the bottom of the tree.

Also roots are bare at the base of the tree is that a problem

Regards the gravel, doesnt really matter how you do it so long as the rootball isn't actually sitting in water. The gravel should extend belong the line of the foliage.

Regards watering, really it's best to water a plant from the base, not the top, if at all possible. And use rainwater as far as possible too.

It's a good idea with all containerised plants to scrape off the top inch or two and replace it with fresh compost each year. The bare roots are probably not a problem, but it might help to cover them with a little compost, but you should never heap soil up around the stem of a tree, as this will cause decay to set in.

Hope this helps!
