I planted some well established (c 8" high) Dianthus. Some have now got creamy thumb nail size patches on some of their leaves. Can you tell me the cause and also cure please?

Could be temperature fluctuation - if you bought the plants as new, were they under cover or indoors when you bought them? And if so, did you harden them off before planting out?
