I would like some help to Identify a tree please,it gets small white flowers first then it"s leaves next it bears hard green inedible fruits. It also has sharp spikes on its trunk it is very hardy....thanks

Is this a Chaenomeles? Common name 'Japonica'? It's more of a large shrub, but the description fits otherwise????

Maclura or Osage Orange perhaps? That makes a big tree with spikes on its trunk, followed by fruits. Just a wild guess, as a photo is a must.
