I have since cut some belladoonas and put them in a vase and the smell is overpowering and making me feel nausious. Has this happened to anyone else?

I think it is very much a New Zealand bulb. Lilies can give off a very strong perfume which can give some people headaches and others nausea. I can't have the Stargazer type lilies in our sitting room for that reason Lilium longiflora though isn't a problem
