It is unlikely to cause the Dicksonia any harm. Ferns generally have so many noxious anti fungal, anti bacterial chemicals in them that they rarely suffer attacks from such things. Is this plant in a container? Inside or outside?

If inside, allow the surface of the compost to dry off between watering. The trunk can be sprayed every few days anyway as the rootlets below the old leaf bases can still absorb moisture.
