I have been given a hydrangea plant in a tub. What do I do with it when it has stopped flowering?

Hi, welcome to g o y, if you have Hydrangea macrophylla, then you don't need to do anything with it until next spring, when you cut off the dead flowers, and down to the bud just below the flower, give it a feed, and if you want blue flowers, give it some aluminium sulphate, and keep it well watered in light shade.
If you have room, it would be better planted in the ground, but if you have alkaline soil, you will get pink flowers, and i you have acid soil, you will get blue flowers, however, either can be altered by the addition of either aluminium sulphate for blue, or ground limestone for pink, Derek.
