i have 2 cordylines in my garden i tied the middle up to stop the frost from geting in, unfortunately the middle as dropped off an stem is all mushy. Have i lostmy cordylines now ?

If the top 'bud' area is mushy, then yes I'm afraid they are gone. Small consolation, but lots of gardens have lost these this winter. It's just luck of the draw for winter weather. Time to go to the Garden Centre! So much for our new 'Mediterranean climate'!
