Hi Cynthia, welcome to G O Y , have a look on the stems to see if there are any dormant buds, they will probably be a pinky red colour, if you don't see any, try scraping the bark a little with your thumb nail, below any obviously dead bits and along the stem at intervals, until you find some green underneath where you have scraped, if you don't find any green, then I'm afraid it's dead, Derek.
