After the long winter the (core) part of the Yukka in my garden is completely infested with insects.
Any ideas?

A picture would be helpful. What type of Yucca is it? does the Yucca have any fronds? A Yucca stem should be solid and not hollow, so insects in there is not a good sign. Sometimes they regrow from further down, towards the roots after a bad winter but will take time to do so.
