I've noticed a plant has begun to appear in my garden over a few months. It has some similarities to a cabbage and something of a dock leaf too, but me and others are stumped, any ideas?

yes, that was me who asked the question a few days ago! I agreed with advice that it was common mullein (verbascum something)....scan back through questions from earlier in the week & you can see the bit I copied from an article online. Read up on it & you'll see that the seeds can germinate after several decades in the soil! Flower in second year with tall flower spike with yellow flowers. Considered a weed in parts of America

It looks like a Verbascum to me. Somebody else recently had a question about one of these. They grow to about 5-6' and have woolly flower spikes, often yellow flowers.
