Dahlia seeds

I have taken the dahlia seeds from the spent flower heads for the first time this year ( didn`t know that was possible until this year, read it somewhere ) If I remember correctly you get variations of flowers from the seeds. Can anyone tell me when and how I should sow them. I am assuming into pots or seed trays in the spring ? I haven`t got a greenhouse yet

keep the seed dry and cool [paper envelops are good for this] and sow them in multi compost march time. they usually germinate within 3 weeks. If you dont have a greenhouse by then a windowsill in a spare bedroom will be fine, they dont want to be hotter than 18 degrees centigrade.
