hubby took this fab picture when we were living at our old house
he wanted to know what it is as hes going to put it in his portfolio

i thought perhaps a grape Hyacinth?

Well probably, but a) its not open b) leaves much more important for ID c) what time of year was it and d) pic of whole thing to judge height would be good. Sorry, mookins... could also be scilla

Without seeing the whole plant it's hard to say, but it looks to me like Camassia cerulenta aka quamash.

aah well all we have was the date of when it was taken and that was May 2008!!

Never mind he shall have to name it "springtime" or of some effect hehe

I think it is a Camassia, before the buds open. Almost all the google pix show the open flowers but I found with the bud showing. hehehe xxx

now Im confused... I googles what bbB had said and it had come up with nothing so presumed it was a made up name hence me giggling...but then I google yours and I come up with real plants!!

Hi there, I don't think it is grape hyacinths . I'm pretty sure it could be unopened bluebells.

Yep, I would say bluebell too, probably Spanish bluebell, which is larger and not so graceful as our English one.
