We have a aechmea blue rain. It calls the new shoots -pups-. How do you split them from the potted original. we dont want to ruin anything. there are four new pups.

The main plant will die off, wait until there is a good root system then plant up the Pups as you call them? Or have heard them called. Good Luck :o)

"Pup" is a common nickname for the offsets of many plants, mostly cacti, succulents, or bromeliads. The offsets of bromeliads usually take 2-4 years to bloom, and will probably have "litters" of their own, in the process.
