Hi to all, i'm back again with my problem with russian vine, I cut it back right to the ground (I have planted rambling roses) now not being able to dig up the root (health being the problem) is there anything i can put on the stubbs to kill the roots? i've been told neat bleach or paint the stubbs with gloss, are these true? looking forward to hearing from you again, Irene,x

Buy some SBK, make a few cuts in the roots and apply the SBK fairly liberally, but don't soak the soil, cover with something, anything, and leave. You may have to re-treat, wear gloves, don't spill any where you don't want it, its very runny.
