Hi, glad to be back after some time.
How far do I prune my penstemons?
Although only their second year they are very woody at their base.

I wouldn't prune them until April as the top growth will act as a 'coat' for the buds further down. In the meantime, why not try a few cuttings in a pot in the greenhouse or windowsill. They are quite easy and will provide new plants if you have any casualties over winter.
