Its usually best to tease apart if you can and only chop if its too tough. If it is a tender one it will need bringing under glass for the winter.

That's so funny of course I see the error of my ways now - spitzhenry has uploaded a picture that matches my osteospurmum and in my bleary eyed early morning haze I managed to get rather muddled. I think it is, however, a rather good name so I shall now refer to mine as such! Thank you for your advice I shall tease appart tomorrow if the rain stops!

I think you should PM her and tell her she is now famous as a plant name!
