I have an escalpiered (sp) pyrocanthus on the side of my of the branches has died and if I cut it off along with the other, I have a gaping area...I Had to cut the dead branch above it last year. Any suggestions?

OR, United States Us

It is about 8 feet tall and the branches are at least six feet long. It is on the east facing wall of the house.

Pyracantha along with other related plants such a Malus (Apples), Pyrus (Pears) etc can suffer from bacterial canker which causes whole branches to die back.

Are there any signs of brownish lesions on the stems below where the branches have died?
