Why is my ribes wilting and dying?

In the past couple of weeks the ends of shoots, almost one by one, have wilted, leaves have turned brown and the plant looks very sick; any ideas?

Did you keep it watered when we were in drought during the heatwave? That's the prime suspect, lack of water. Otherwise, is there any sign of infestation or disease on the plant?
