This shrub needs a good clipping annually or else it soon gets very leggy. Trim off two-thirds of all the new growth (the pods will be removed too).

Just cut the pods off......if you want more plants next year...sow the seed but they won't necessarily be true to type. Your shrub is perennial and will flower again next year,
