Astilbe flower??

My Astilbe Japonica Rheinland flower is now past it,s best and is going brown, what should I do with it? leave it or cut it off?

I leave mine and in the autumn birds eat the seeds then in the frost they can look stunning. abit like grass seed heads. so depends on where they are and whta you want them to look like.

oh too late seaburngirl, i,ve cut it..lol
but I have 3 others which i,ll leave on.
can the seeds be collected to grow more astilbes?

yes they can but they may not come true from seed if it is a named variety.
