Can you use the water from washing the dishes

When you've finished witht the water from washing the dishes, can you use it to water the plants, or is it not safe as it may still have detergent in it?

As long as its not too fatty or contaminated with nasty chemicals, it should be fine.
You can get eco friendly soaps for washing up etc.

I have always known you can in the past I have always done this as I am on a water metre and it has nt harmed my plants what so ever.
