I think these are Cumulus? Once you see a Mackeral sky you will know PL as they are very distinctive.

A mackrel sky looks like lots of fish scales ... smaller and higher than in your photo.

If you take a look at my photos,Poppy..page 6,and first one on row 2..there is a pic of a mackerel sky..just an opportune moment..and I hadn't a clue till I had some comments,what it was...just thought it was wonderful :o)

I got it from national trust for scotland, but try Amazon they have good prices on books

no its not but it is pretty. the clouds are a lot higher and look more like the patterns you get on the side of a mackeral fish. hence its name.
