Willow Gentian (Gentiana asclepiadea (Goryczka))

Gentian blue flowers this year. Last year the plant was decimated by a leaf eating pest.

After reading your comment on your P florindae, thought I would search for Willow Gentian and here you are. Beautiful isnt it, another new one on me, I actually wish you would stop introducing me to all the beauties, you have so many nice ones.

Willow Gentian is the only one that is easy going as to soil conditions, there is also a pink willow one, but I think Gentians should be blue.

I think many years ago I had a really bright blue rockery plant gentian.

I moan about my soil conditions here, cold, damp, clay but hey ho, things do get going eventually and I try to feed as much as I can.

Reminds me of Borage officinalis which I grew from seed this year, just for colour in the border rather than the herb, the snails and slugs loved them when I planted out but a few are flowering now.

It would be the size of your garden that I would find daunting. I think I would plant with the principal of safety in numbers. There seem to be a pest for every situation!

You know what, the size doesnt phase me. The more I fill it, the less trouble it is. The pond was a nightmare at one point but now the edges are planted, it doesnt take too much looking after really.

The smaller the garden, the easier it is to see the mistakes. I knew my old fish intimately, took it personally when the Crow took them. Haven't seen the new replacements, keeping their heads down.

Yes Siris, I can imagine that being the case. So sad to lose your treasured fish and so frustrating. Your new fish have he right idea. The heron must take loads from ours, the kingfisher can have the minnows, he's nice to look at.

How wonderful to have a kingfisher, so close and personal, wouldn't begrudge it a dark coloured fry or two.

The kingfisher is stunning Siris, I think I did a blog with some great pics, even if I say so myself.
