Why yes Eggbox it is a little young box hedge and they in turn are surrounded with chives along with quite a few bulbs.
The picture was taken half way through the transformation sadly I can't seem to find a before picture but there was nothing there before just bumpy old grass...I'll try and find a later picture when I have done the rounds with this wonderful forum! Hel.xxx.

Your garden is already starting to fill out nicely.! Is that a hakuro nishiki willow that has been trained into a standard? I just love that shrub. The spring leaf colors are beautiful, pink, white and green. Can't wait to see your garden's progress through the season, keep up the great work..!~

Thank you Flcrazy you are too kind. You are correct it is a hakuro nishiki willow tree although truth be told I like the common wording of Flamingo Tree instead but that might be I'm as common as dirt myself! ;0)
Eggbox I have done some topiary using box as well as the little hedge, I have brought one frame and had a go at making and using other more common things knocking around only trouble with box is that it takes soooo very long to grow! Hel.xxx.
