I love the sound of water too Mike. When we first built the pond and waterfall though, I always had to run into the house to pee ! HA ! But I got used to it and now it's such a soothing sound.

Judging form the size of your gardens in your photos Di, you must have been doing a lot of running :)

I've decided to put on hold putting in a pond this year. I'm not sure as to what I want and it looks like I'm going to be putting in a new furnace in the house this summer so the garden budget is going to be a little tight. I'm also thinking that I'm going to want to put up another cover over my patio. This time if I do it it will be a roof slanting down off the garage roof supported by 4 x 4 pressure treated posts and covered with lattice. I will know for sure when all the leves have come out on the shrubs and bushes around the patio.

Yes Mike, too much running ! I started carrying paper with me and started squatting around the hosta beds. They tell you to do that to keep the deer away. They love hosta ! It works really good for me. Probably more information than you wanted to know !

Anyway, when you finally put your pond in, make it bigger than you think you want, because down the road you'll wish it was bigger. Actually I think mine is the perfect size. I'd like it bigger only because I keep wanting to buy koi but I wouldn't want to keep a bigger one clean so it works great. It's about 2400 gallons, 4' deep because of the koi and freezing over winter, and it has a medium shelf and a shallow shelf for plants. I keep a fountain/pump going all winter to keep a hole in the ice.
