Thanks Maple. This big sunflower was a surprise last year. I had some small hybrids the previous year from a packet my daughter gave me for Mothers day. I left the seedheads lying around for the birds, they went rather mouldy looking so I threw them down the garden some time in the winter, and they reverted to original tall sunflowers and just appeared. This year I'm expecting a lot more since I scattered the seed all around the edge of the orchard area in our garden.

You lucky thing Chris! I love them but the plot is just too small but then a 20 minute walk at the height of summer and we are in fields of them.
Meantime I'll just enjoy yours
