did you ever read the book or see the film: 'the girl with the pearl ear ring?'

No. I have heard about book "Shell Seekers". What is it about?

very different books!! the shell seekers is by rosamind pilcher, its a long book, sort of a gentle escape, nothing offensive in it at all.
the girl with the pearl ear ring is really about a painting done by vermeer ~ dutch painter, and written by Tracy Chevalier, then they made a film of it.

The Netherlands is (was?) the most beautiful country I have ever visited. Very kind and helpful people. Very tidy. Lot of arts. Lot of charity. Beautiful public traffic with vagons painted from inside by young artists. Beautiful dams, windmills and lot of cycle-tours done there. And a lot of rain, lol. Many many years ago I wanted to live and work there. No rasism at all.
But maybe the times has changed.

Whom you mean? Dutch or snails? Lol.
I do not mind snails. They are not so many here at the moment and every creature must have some sense for balance in the garden.
