Yes Terra, He broke a nail a week before his 1st crufts, but he still showed well. Then a week later I took him to a show at a aggricultal showground & thats where he picked up the infection in his nail.
Trouble is with nailbed infections it goes round all the feet & is very painful.
I could not show him after he got better because he stood back on his pads & not on his toes, completely changed his movement :-(

Looking very handsome Willi, I used to show toy poodles, not very well, even more grooming than Freddie needed:-)

I know BA, I use to do dog grooming for a living, hard work. My mum has poodles but miniture & standard.

I had a standard too, didn't breed or show her though. She was 5 when we first had her ( my best Christmas present) and we were her 4th home! she had just been bred from and sold on from breeder to breeder. A family came for a toy puppy and the woman recognised my lovely Polar (no one had changed her name) when she came in with her little friends to say hello. Apparently her father had her as a puppy and used to take her to work with him, but when he lost his job he had to leave her at home all day alone. He sold her to a midwife who just bred from her then sold her on to another breeder. She was spending most of her time alone in a garage when we got her. She was a fantastic girl...how she coped with being alone all the time I'll never know...she loved everyone and 'mothered' my toys...very special dog, I still miss her. My last little white girl...Beanie died about 12 years ago and we had 3 dogless years...went on holiday! Got broody...found Rosie and Meg ( jack types) at Birmingham Dogs home...perfect little girls:-)
