My, did you tame it Crissue?

Hi Denise, we certainly did, and had some huge Bonfires too...Bramble like you wouldn't believe...and we salvaged one young Walnut Tree from the front, you can see the new red leaves just clearing the tops of the other Rubbish...The boundary and back were just as bad, but we had wonderful Oaks, and an Elder, and a very Old Pear tree that still produced fruit...lord knows how old it was...

Was it in France?

Yes it is...our first house...and a lot of work inside and out...4O years it had been empty... and over 500 years old...

That is very old Crissue and yes must have been hard work? Were termites a problem in the house?

Wow, now that is what I call overgrown!

No Denise no Termites...it had at one time had something called Capricorn, but had been treated, before sale...You must have a Certificate of conformity here, before sales can proceed...
That's just part of it Frybo..front sides and back all just as bad....but there was a house under all that lot...:)))

Hi Resi...Tha House was one mammoth job...I think we must have been crazy...We love a challenge, but we've never worked so hard in our life...I think it took 7 years all told...I've just got the CD rom from my BIL which he took everything from our old Computer off for us...so I don't know quite what's there at the mo...will keep looking...I can tell you it was a quarter acre at the front..which was centred around a huge Lawn one side, and cottage garden and strawberry beds, and a restored original Courtyard where the cattle used to come through from the field to their stabling...on the other side, and our own Well...that was handy...

Oh, Sue...I don't know what to say...
...how it was...what you did...and how it is now... :(
...Heartbreaking...

Yep Karen...real shame, wish we'd sold to English now....
Never mind my health came first...
I was saying to OH the other day if he remembered when we found the original Grape vine 20 feet up a beautiful old Oak tree, full of juicy black grapes...
and I said now this would make a wonderful Woodland garden...there were loads of wild Violets all around the tree...and that area...and I planted so many tiny 'tete a tete' daffs in amongst...Hard to believe that tree has gone, and is now a Housing block for Huntings dogs...!!
28 Jul, 2011
ohh Criss that must be so hard to take, after all that hard toil and no doubt the visions you had and the beauty you created
a block for hunting dogs!!!
28 Jul, 2011
I would just try not to pass that way very often, Sue...
...You are making your new house and garden just as lovely a home to live in...and, as you say, your health is more important :)))
