Cat food, cat biscuits, roast chicken ( is their fav) and plenty of water never milk. You can use any dog or cat food/biscuits or ready mixed dry hedgehog food but I prefer to feed them on cat food/biscuits and chicken. There is plenty of reliable info on line like the British Hedgehog Preservation Society. I put a clean dish of food out everynight about 1 hour before dark, I always put it in the same place ( outside the back door) as they seem to be confused if its moved. - the food is about the same amount I give the cat. They are also fussy eaters and dont like rubbish!
When your garden has more established plants Doddy that will encourage them to visit as they forage for food among the plants and shrubs. They do a great job for me and are a delight to watch. There seems to be an order of eating the youngest come first. We never do anything to stress them or touch them as the mother would abandon the young if handled by humans - she can detect the smell. One other tip get a quiet bowl as they play with them when empty and a metal one on the patio is very noisy.
