Told you it would be a good weekend!

Well it’s been a gorgeous day here and got off to a good start. I went for a quick walk very early to take some photos of the bluebells near the canal. They are beautiful.
Bluebells near the canal
I got everything done in the garden that I intended – not much, I’ll give you that, but I’m glad my spring cabbages are all thinned out now.
My chosen ones and the stragglers
It seems like such a waste to sling the ones I don’t have room for so they’re in temporary accommodation until I can find a friend who wants them (not many gardeners) or I plant some flowers on Spritz’s say so :o)
Does anyone else have problems throwing their plants away, even though there’s not nearly enough room for them?
Anyway, I have earmarked a patch for my hardy annuals (whatever they are; don’t sound much like veg to me) and await instruction :o)
My flower bed in waiting
The questions now is: Will it be the pack of Nasturtiums?

Peter I had to laugh at the 'reserved for Spritiz' and also the part where you said 'gorgeous day' , yesterday was without a doubt smashing but sadly today isn't it's pounding down at the moment! Well at least it's good for the garden but we don't want another wash-out like last year thats for sure!
Yes I'm afraid you are not alone with your 'throw aways' I can't bring myself to throw good seedlings away too sadly none of my neighbours are 'growers' so I can't pass any to them but my mum-in-law is one lucky lady as she'll get most of mine so things pan out okay in the end.Hel.xxx.

It looks more as though you are preparing to kill me off for nagging you about planting flowers! My resting place is already chosen and marked! HELP! Seriously, I take unwanted plants/seedlings to the local school fair which is next weekend in our case. Otherwise, join your local 'Freecycle' group and post them on there - they will be snapped up!

Hmm, see what you mean. I'll replace it with something a little less ominous when I sow the flowers :o)
So do you think my year old pack of Nasturtiums is suitable? I mentioned those and some Amaranthus on the last blog comments.

Just signed up for my local free cycle, Spritz. I wonder if they want an old toaster too :o)

What do bluebells always seem so magical? A lovely picture.

Peter - you can post ANYTHING on Freecycle! If the toaster still works, someone may well be glad of it! I had collected about 3,000,000 flower pots (but can never find the right size for potting on from plug plants as that size are all in use!) - so I threw a load of bigger ones into black bin bags and 'posted' them. Had a reply immediately and they are now in a new home! I have a blog on the way for next week on my luck with Freecycle goodies - so not telling you what I was given last week yet...;-) P.S. I bet the Nasturtiums will be fine. Go for it!

Surely its got to be Nasturtiums Peter as Spritz recommended. I want to see that cross with Spritz name on it removed from your veg patch and replaced with a plant label!
Best wishes, Grenville

P.S
You will also make Spritz a very happy G.O.Y member if you follow her planting advice !!!

LOL! What a great blog! I love to homage/burial site for Spritz! I hope your flowers work out for you Peter. I am a gardener that can't throw a plant away, I'll find room for it, and planting vegetables in amongst flowers to add texture is something fun and rewarding!

My resolve to plant Nasturtiums weakened on Sunday, around about the same time the heavens opened. I've not been out there yet but they will be planted, don't worry :o)

Great work Peter. Love the homage to Spritz in the veg patch!
Also the photos of the Bluebells are stunning.
