the arch seat we bought at Llangollen garden show arrived and is now erected and looking super – under the carport! thanks to torrential rain we can’t take it up to situ at the top of the garden as the securing spikes will need positioning not a job for todays weather so roll on dry spell!
The question now is should we plant roses to cover the arch or leave it in the woodland setting between Rhododendrons and silver birches
The two roses i’m torn between are shropshire lad and crown princess margareta both perfumed climbing david austin roses decisions decisions!
All the plants i bought at the garden show are now planted and doing well despite the rain The white foxgloves especially look divine in front of the yew tree
we are having a new tarmac drive in a few weeks a curving drive uphill from the road not alas suitable for blocks or affordable in block come to that! it will be brilliant no more potholes no more water splash

Why not go for a wild 'woodland' style rose - rosa canina so you get the lovely ruby red hips in autumn? then you have a rose and the woodland setting

Ooohh if it was mine Neellan...I'd plant both perfumed climbing roses, one either side. Imagine sitting there next summer...
