Photinia Red Robin Hedging Advice

Good day to you all. I have recently purchased 10 Red Robin shrubs which is going to form a lovely hedge under my living room window, however I realise that the hedge is going to take a few years for fill out and establish and was wondering what else I could add to bring colour and fullness to the area. I would be happy to add short term seasonal plants or even something that may last longer, but I am unsure as to what goes with what due to my inexperience.

Area: 6M long X 0.5M Wide
Soil: Well drained good quality top soil including a large amount of manure.
Light: South facing lots of sun no shade but slightly shielded from the wind.

Please help?
