Grandma Fuchsia

I like to buy fuchsias with names that ‘mean’ something to me, and if I see one with the name of a relation, I definately buy it.

Well I’ve found ones with the names of my two grandmothers -

The first one, I found a few years ago. It’s called Winifred, and that was the name of one of my grandmothers :o)

It’s a bit early for this year’s flowers yet, so that’s an old photo

.

.

Now I’ve waited several years to find this one …

It’s a small plant I found in a nearby nursery last week.

It’s called Hanna, and that was also the name of one of my grandmothers :o)
(Actually she was Hannah – but who’s going to quibble about one missing H)

.

.

So here are my two Grandmothers …

Winifred …
(Mam’s mother)

.

.

And at last, Hanna …
(Dad’s mother)

.
.

Two lovely fuchsias,
and two lovely Grandmothers.
And since it’s May, that’s the month that both my grandmothers, and myself, have our birthdays :o)

What a lovely blog Hywel, Lovely

8 May, 2012

Lovely fuchsias, lovely photos Hywel.
I couldnt help thinking they looked alike. But then people often marry people who look like them dont they? Did your father's family resemble you mother's?
My fuchsias are without flowers as yet- I have stopped them and hope the sun comes out to encourage them!

Hi everyone and thanks for reading my fuchsia blog :o)

Rachelsmum, My grandmothers didn't look alike. Hannah was tall and thin, and Winifred was short and fat lol

Linda I don't think I'll find fuchsias with my parents' names either. They had Welsh names, just like me. No plants to be had called Hywel lol :o)

Thanks also for the birthday wishes. I'm not going to say what day it's on lol ....
