Peonies & Roses

I felt sure the wind & rain would have spoilt these but somehow they were not so I just had to cut some for the house. The rose is Nahema, a favourite of mine for not only the shape but the wonderful fragrance.
For the longest time I have wanted capture that aroma, it took Jean-Paul Guerlain 4 years to create the perfume, Nahema, just look at the description:

Nahéma is constructed around a saturation of roses with slightly fruity oriental notes thanks to the use of a secret ingredient: a revolutionary molecule taken from the rose itself. It is first a swell of roses chosen from the best families of this innumerable species. Its heart reveals the fresh green scent of hyacinth. Then come fruit, peaches and passion fruit, symbols of temptation since the time of Eve. The dry-down is upheld by sandalwood and patchouli.

It was created in 1979 & is as hard to find as the rose itself but with the internet your fingers do the searching & I found it & clicked quickly before I could talk myself into being prudent & sensible. I just hope it’s as lovely as the rose is.

I just had to take a picture of these peonies, they are magnificent. Great big huge flowers that seem to glow. I’ve no idea what variety they are as they were already here when we came & that was 14 yrs ago so goodness only knows how old the bush is. The previous owners were here for 40 yrs.

Actually, now I think about it, the peony was very much smaller & struggling. There used to be a small privet hedge next to it which we took out, it has flourished ever since.
The perfume will take a few weeks as it's coming from New York.
I was feeling a bit guilty so fessed up to Tom, he said 'you deserve it, my darling' - what a lovely man I have! (still feel a bit guilty though).

I just wish the peony lasted longer, already petals are falling but at least the flowers hadn't been ruined by the rain.

It's lovely, DD, very hard to put into words as it's neither sweet, flowery nor fresh & it changes after a while to something similar to the rose itself.
Tom likes it.
