I just purchased one of these. Do they need special care? Nice photo!

Thank you Spritzhenry, just as I thought. I wonder why Iris is dealt with differently? I must admit it does look better with some leaves left on the plant rather than scalping it!

I just cut out the flower stems and pull off the black leaves to tidy the plants up. Sometimes I take off a fan or two if they are getting a bit crowded, and plant them up elsewhere or in a pot for a friend!

Just realised that I didn't tell you what plant I am talking about! Its Sisyrinchium striatum. ( I thought it was a site dedicated to just this plant for some reason!)
Thanks

Bought some of this little beauty at Herterton Gardens, Northumberland last week.
The gardens are well worth a visit

Yes Amy its a Bonsai that has lived outdoors for the last 30 years. It will need to be transferred to a new Bonsai pot later this year as it has outgrown the current container and it is looking a little 'tired.'

Not ground cover Eileen but you can split them and dot them around the place

Lovely picture - our clump is coming into flower now, but during the winter many of the leaves blacken - still it survives. I like the little ones too, which seem to be self-seeding in our garden.

Tasteyg, no special care that I know of.....maybe just to be sure to mark where you plant it because it can look like a normal clump of grass and get yanked out for a weed !
Lori, sorry I missed your question, they're seedpods.
