I love this shade of blue and I must remember that it's " Compliment Blue " as I want to add Lobelia to my front garden next year.

A winning selection you've got there! The red hot blooms blends so wonderfully with that nearly black foliage.

Mine have been devastated by slugs this year. The stems are eaten for several inches on one side, which weakens it and it snaps. For the last two years I had some trouble, but not as much as this year.

I did recently spray with a solution of Slug Clear and next morning there were lots of dead slugs on the ground. The bottle said that it is invisible to animals but I don't know if it is harmful if birds and hedgehogs eat the dead slugs. Our problem is that ground protection doesn't work - the slugs hang glide in from neighbouring tall plants!

That is nice. I think we have trouble with the hardiness in Canada, but I do like them.

I thought so Rachelscot. My daughter bought a Nikon D80 not so long ago and her pics are amazing. The enlargements of each part of the picture is an eyeopener. You can zoom in on each picture itself and I cannot begin to comprehend how that all works. This again is a fantastic photo of the hoverfly and the flower it is on. Even the little fine hairs are visible. I know what you mean out there are millions of magnificent pictures and it would be hard to compete. Best to just enjoy them yourselves and let us gape at them. No matter how good your equipment is and how many lenses etc you have, it is still the photographer who takes the shot and you have to hold the camera still and compose a nice picture before you press the button. I think you certainly are very talented. Congratulations.

Yes Marguerite we do have very high winds. Up until a week ago we had gale force winds and continuous rain for several weeks, but things have calmed down now, and we have had scorching sunshine.
We use two cameras for our garden photos.I use a Sony cybershot digital, and Alan uses his professional Panasonic digital. The photo of the Lobelia was taken on the Panasonic which is a much better camera.

thank you. i do love photography and do enter a few of the online contests. i have tried selling on shutterpoint.com and managed to sell a few pics, but there are millions of good photos out there so the chances of even getting people to look at my pics on shutterpoint are slim! i am really not in it for the money anyway i just enjoy takeing pics to share with everyone. ;o)
i use a Nikon D70s with a sigma 105mm f2.8 macro lens for most of the pics on here.

Your Macro photography is excellent - if you haven't tried selling some of these you might consider posting them on some of the online pro websites - with the range you have you may get a calendar! Can I ask what equipment you are using??
