You know, I'm not sure. I've only ever known them as Oxeye Daisies, and who knows where I got them from. I looked up the genus... Leucanthemum & Marguerites seem to fall in a Chrsanthemum category, However, one of my other perennial books has Oxeye under Heliopsis.

Is a daisy a marguerite? These sure look wonderful in a whole bunch together. I like the little peeping hole so I can see beyond. Is that a little track next to a field?

There's a story about 'those' Cosmos - I grew them from a packet of seeds called 'Red Cosmos' with a definitely red picture. Then I planted them out all over the place where red would be fine - what a shock when they opened ORANGE! You are so right about being difficult to mix...now if they'd been in my purple/gold/white borders I'd have been very happy!

Did you grow the Cosmos yourself - the combination is stunning! I've introduced some purple in the beds with my orange flowers - they are quite difficult to mix with some colours.

I have introduced quite a lot of Leucanthemums into the perennial borders they are near to very large decidious trees and in the evening it felt quite dark and threatening. The white has just lifted it and the daisies don't seem to mind some shade.

They are not at all fussy about soil as long as it is not too poor or too dry or too wet. They like full sun, but they will take shade as long as it is not too much. They keep their yellow colour longer in dappled shade. Used to be called Shasta Daisies by the way.
