We get 2 meters of water in the summer, so that should be enough. I will look for one in the nursery, as I only have seen one in Flecker Botanic gardens. Guess they don't want to take cuttings for visitors, lol.

Marguerite,

This plant is very easy from cuttings and I'm sure it would grow very well
where you live. They like a lot of water though.

I have seen large Justicia carnea almost 8 feet tall and over 10 feet wide in the San Francisco Bay Area. This plant when large looks like a huge pink candelabra. I used to grow this plant in the S.F. Bay Area and it grew large and bloomed off-and-on throughout the year.

It is more spectacular when the plant is large and has many branches.

This plant is commonly sold in nurseries in San Diego. This pic was from last year...however, my plants are in bloom right now. I will post some new pictures I took two days ago.

You are lucky. I think it is lovely. I have a picture of it too, taken in our botanical garden.

Beautiful Justicia aurea! Mine are just starting to bloom. How large do they get in Darwin? Here in San Diego, CA. I have seen them about 12 feet tall.

Yes Lyd, that is a very good description. They grow in the shade and you have to take them with the flash, which doesn't really give a good idea of the colours. They are much more vibrant, like a hot pink.
