'everflame' , thats the one I have Paul, wish Id bought a couple now but it was pricey enough just for the one. Are they tough enough to get through the winter?
15 Dec, 2011
I think they're pretty hardy Bampy - remember seeing yours in the gravel really nice

Thank you Sandra :)))))))))))))))))

Bampy
They are not 100% hardy best to cover the crowns with a good deep mulch .It is a New Zealander not known for hardy plants.

Ahh!! many thanks for that Bjs, its a new addition this summer so have no experience of these re overwintering. It has gone the most wonderful colour. I will give it the TLC treatment immediatly, already been out there with a torch so a quick covering with sacking & a cardboard box over it will help. Its the open Fen blasts that do plants in which is why I keep all my acers in pots so I can put them in the polytunnel each winter. Bit of a pain but friends lost their acers last winter but mine were ok so I dont mind the extra bit of cuffuffle.
I dont know what part of the country your from Paul but I expect yours is better sheltered so fingers crossed they make it.

Very nice. The leaves look like a houseplant I've got. It's a tri-colour dracena.

That's why I'm not a true gardener - I don't have much knowledge :(
Thanks Sheila :))))))))

just other day Pixi - you wanna see my grass - it is really crap - gets me frustrated - all the work and every year - even when left it looks like a football pitch - looks great in summer - bad in winter.
15 Dec, 2011
Yep moine too :(
15 Dec, 2011
may end up slabbing whole garden - see our lawn gets about 1 hr sun per day in winter - so it just can't dry out and dies off from lack of sun - really love grass but frustrating too
15 Dec, 2011
I only have a teeny bit lawn lol.....aw dont slab it!!!!!
15 Dec, 2011
there's that or - extend the plant area - take out grass and put trees and all in with a little path to pond

I lost mine last year Paul, but it had seeded itself in the gravel,so if you look closely, you might have some little ones..it also seeded itself among the other grasses, which looks good :o)
17 Dec, 2011
Thanks bloomer - prob mine will die now thanks to the frost :((( still always buy another one - just love reds :)))
17 Dec, 2011
I had it a few years,Paul,so it did ok..think last winter was just too much for it..so you might be lucky..Hope my dwarf Red Robin survives,as I love red too :o)
17 Dec, 2011
Yes hope ours survives too - red robins a bit tender too :(( such beauties though :))
17 Dec, 2011
I have noticed some of the new red leaves look a bit worse for wear,Paul..might throw some fleece over it,if it gets really bad..
17 Dec, 2011
yes :((( getting milder thankfully - certainly not looking like a white Christmas this year
