Corokia cotoneaster, 'Wire Netting Bush'

Corokia cotoneaster, 'Wire Netting Bush' (Corokia cotoneaster)

Another shrub I found at college. It's quite hard to show in a photograph. The branches cross and recross each other to form an intricate web of hexagonal cells. The effect is that a mature specimen (this one is just a baby) looks like someone has taken a sheet of chicken wire and scrunched it up into a loose ball. It has small grey-green leaves, tiny yellow star like flowers in summer and autumn/winter it has small orange fruits. On the right are the deeply creased leaves of Vibernum rhytidophyllum, which I have grown from a softwood cutting taken 2 years ago.
