Callistemon citrinus - Bottlebrush

Callistemon citrinus - Bottlebrush (Callistemon citrinus - Bottlebrush)

Looking at my neighbor's huge Bottlebrush tree...thinking it needs a good trimming. Most books say this tree only grow to 3m/10ft., not here in San Diego...it tops out at 30ft/10m. Photo taken Sept. 23, 2011.

Gosh.....mine looks to be growing and growing and growing. I might have a giant in a few years. Problem is it's going to hit a telephone cable, phone company just has to move it then...(right).

Yes, this tree grows extremely fast in our climates, too fast! The whole top was cut off this tree about 2 years ago, believe-it-or-not.

Oh, good idea. I'll just chop the top off when it gets too close to the phone cable.

I didn't think chopping the whole top off was good for this tree. However, as you can tell, it was an issue for the tree.

I noticed a lot of dead or badly damaged Callistemons this year due to the harsh winter.Sad to see.

Rbtkew:

It must have gotten really cold! I know Callistemon is really hardy.
