False Spirea
Genus: Astilbe.
Species: Astilbe chinensis.
Dense fluffy spikes of tiny deep raspberry flowers on erect stems above dark fern-like foliage. Sun or shade in a rich moisture retentive soil. Flowers summer. 30 x 20cm RHS AGM. Its very similar to False Goat's Beard astilbes, but it keeps its leaves closer to the ground, and is smaller in stature. The flowers are held more densely on the spike.
