Japanese Quince 'Geisha Girl'

Genus: Chaenomeles.

Species: Chaenomeles japonica.

This is in the gravel garden behind the hot tub. In spring it is absolutely lovely. It doesn't need any care, but I sometimes remove the outward facing branches in summer to keep it trained fairly close to the fence. The fruits are edible and are usually used to make quince jelly or added to pear crumble etc. to bring out the flavour of pears and apples etc. You only use a small amount in this case, perhaps one fruit for a crumble. I've tried it and it is nice, but nothing spectacular!
