Get down Shep!

after years of searching, I finally found the spoof song "Get Dwon, Shep!" on YouTube, done in a John Noakes-ish voice - "And ere I am at the top of Everest and-- get down, Shep!"

that reflects another part of Noakes, his willingness to do daft/slightly dangerous things - I can remember him taking part in a canal-vaulting contest! Round our way, if something a bit risky came along, we'd say, "oo-er, that's a bit John Noakes!"

Yeah he was a total lunatic/hero/nice chap. Sky diving, bob sleigh, that weird wrestling. This was before H&S and PC. The way we were sigh.

yeah, so right! we very rarely died of it ...
