Crazy Paving

Crazing paving began no doubt, when somebody’s pathway was wearing out:The neighbours stood at the garden gate, & said " that path’s in an awful state".
The path grew worse & the grass grew green in gaps where some of the stones had been; The borders bloomed & their seeds were sown, among the cracks in the broken stone.
So things continued until one day,an artist happened to pass that way.He thought the pathway looked rather nice,& snapped it up at a fancy price. That night, the neighbours, when darkness fell, smashed all their & paths & walls as well,& sold the village that gave them birth for far more money than it was worth.
