Who said "patience is a virtue"?

Whoever said it I should have listened! I had some plants delivered today and as the weather looked a bit bleak I decided to pot them on in the kitchen (I can hear you groan). Shouldn’t be too much mess I thought. Got all my trays, pots, compost, labels and everything ready. I happily set about decanting the compost into the 3" pots, popped in the plants and labelled them. I did’nt realise I had spilt some compost on the kitchen floor until I after I had watered the plants in. When I looked around there was compost everywhere I had walked, even on the work tops, and a nice muddy puddle in the middle of the floor.

At this point my dog (Dylan) walked in. He took one look, and I could almost hear him say “I’m not getting the blame for this lot” before he trotted off. All this happened under the watchful eye of Kipper (one of my cats) who jumped onto the windowsill to sit in the sun, which of course came out just as I had finished mopping the kitchen floor!

If only I had waited an hour…..:o)

I know just how you feel as 2weeks ago, when OH was at footie, I sowed many seeds in the kitchen. I DID fill the seed trays/pots out in the garage, even so, still made a mess everywhere ! Never did tell him. : o )

D I keep wondering whether you are a man or a woman, and whether to think "oh typical man" OR "oh poor girl, what a mess on top of everything else"
Anyway I hope it soon got cleared up and you went out into the sunshine.

I'll have to show this to my twins!!!. About an hour ago I did the same thing. I sowed my french beans into pots using the kitchen table as a potting bench. In came the twins (bad idea!!) I got screamed at, with, "mum what do you think your doing that's why we have a garden!!" in stereo. Der I said trying to be 'cool' its raining and Ive got to get it done! Guess what happened then.......Twin one says Can I sow some sweet peas!!!!???!!! Go ahead I said trying not to laugh

I hope I am not offending you, Dylandog, but from this blog I would identify you as being female!
Why? Because if a man had even contemplated this he would have been told "You are NOT doing that in MY kitchen!". :-o.
I should know.

27 Mar, 2010

Mg would probably admonish you in a foreign language ! : o )

the reason why women are allowed to do potting up in the kitchen is because they will clean up the mess PROPERLY afterwards, not so with the gents! : )

LOL Viv, it was starting to look like a chat room :o)). Terra....Dylan said of course it wasn't him, it was Kipper!

30 Mar, 2010

Lol...
Poor Kipper.
Does Kipper end up taking the blame for everything ? :o)

30 Mar, 2010

I thought that's what kitchens are for...and spare bedrooms come to think of it:-)

30 Mar, 2010

I have a vacuum:-))

31 Mar, 2010

If its raining or cold I use my kitchen table just place plastic cloth over it if fine I use the bench outside.

In my time, I have had motor bykes, in my kitchen car engines in my bedroom and kitchen and I have more tools than food or crockery in my kitchen cupboards at present. Tools that when the men see they want them.

@Bulbaholic. I dont understand, Mr SussexSarah is always telling me not to do the potting in the kitchen. Perhaps we just have too much mud stuck in our ears to hear properly?

24 Apr, 2010

Pardon?
